Traditions

Together with development of Ukrainian beer market in beginning of 90s Obolon company becomes the founder of traditions on the beer market and also on markets of non-alcoholic and low alcoholic drinks.   

1974 
Czech specialists drew up the project and chose the place for building of the new brewery. It was the place with huge reserves of soft and clear water of Jurassic horizon. This is the kind of water brewers allover the world tend to use as it meets all demands of the brewing process.
1989 
Beginning of export activity of the plant. Zhiguli Beer produced by Obolon is exported to the United Kingdom for the first time. This step marked the beginning of tradition of successful export of Ukrainian beer.  Today Obolon sells beer under its own trademark to dozens of countries of the world.
1992 
Obolon obtained Privatization Certificate No 1 and became the first private enterprise in independent Ukraine.  Obolon starts to produce Obolon Svetloe and thus sets up the standard of the modern Ukrainian beer.
1992 
Obolon sets up the standard of bottle design (label,  back label, neck label and colour cap with logo).
1993 
trademark Obolon becomes the first recognized Ukrainian beer brand.
1994 
Obolon opens the Ukrainian market of low-alcoholic drinks. Obolon offers its customers drinks of post-mix type such as Jin-Tonic, Rum-Cola  and Brandy-Cola that become very popular.  Today there are more and more players on this market.
1997 
Obolon is the first one in Ukraine to produce beer in cans.
1998 
Obolon is the first one in Ukraine to produce beer in its own bottle of NRW standard. Later each brewery started to bottle beer in bottles of its own design. 
1998 
Obolon is the first one in the industry to get International Certificate for the system of quality management ISO-9001. 
1999 
Obolon is the first one to bottle traditionally barreled drink Kwas.
1999 
Obolon opens the segment of beer bottled in PET on Ukrainian market. It starts to bottle beer into PET bottles of 1L and 2 L. Today the market share of beer in PET is 28.1%.

The most revolutionary product of Obolon company is a juice containing drink Zhivchik. It was brought to the market in 1999, and already next year it became a hit and gained Brand of the year 2000 award. 

Therefore, we can say that Obolon opened the segment of juice-containing drinks with useful properties in Ukrainian beverage market.

Obolon passed into the new millennium with the motto "New step every year".

Obolon started the program of reconstruction and increasing of production facilities of its main plant.

2001 
the first stage of changes was reconstruction of Obolon's own malt-house, which allowed to double its capacity. 
2002 
the newest keg line is launched. The line was produced by German company KHS.
2003 
Obolon plant bought the newest candle filter ĢInopro Getra ECOģ produced by KHS for its filtration department.
2004 
start-up of the biggest bottling line in Ukraine. It bottles beer into glass bottles has production capacity of 110 000 per hour. It has made Obolon one of the three most powerful breweries of Europe.
2004 
starting of new brewing facilities produced by German company Ziemann. Together with it 20  der zylinderkonische tank (ZKT) were launched. ZKTs are huge machines where fermenting of beer takes place.  For more details of plant reconstruction please see chapter "Production".

Year in year out steps towards development were taken. It affirmed status of the company that venerates its traditions and at the same time creates them for the developing Ukrainian business.
